Investigating Mary Tyler Moore: Mary’s Incredible Dream

Do you ever forget why you hate someone? It happens to me all the time. Mary Tyler Moore is a good example. Why do I not like her? I have no recollection at all.*

Despite this, let’s spend this week taking a peek at some of MTM’s… lesser television projects, shall we? We’ll start with the 1976 TV special Mary’s Incredible Dream.

This involves…oh dear, what doesn’t it involve? There’s Ben Vereen as the devil? MTM talking her way through “I”m Still Here” in old-lady makeup. Lots of religious imagery. A vampire singing “Sympathy for the Devil.” Doug Kershaw is there as Adam. Manhattan Transfer populates the background.

*This is helping to remind me. Don’t watch this until you’ve seen Mary’s Incredible Dream.
