If, as a child, I loved Ann-Magret’s “My Rival” in Viva Las Vegas, as a man-about-town in my early 20s, it was the redhead’s “Appreciation” that really did it for me. “Once I met a nice old man upon the village green,” she says. “I helped him cross the street into his limousine. The next day, he sent the biggest brooch I’d ever seen to show his appreciation.” Well, I never got a brooch or stock, but I did get a computer. From diamonds to Apples.
