The Suicide Note of Auntie Em

That’s right. Dorothy’s Auntie Em, Clara Blandick, came home from church, got dressed up and did her hair, swallowed a handful of sleeping pills, tied a plastic bag over her freshly coiffed head just in case, and ended it all. Her suicide note?

“I am now about to make the great adventure. I cannot endure this agonizing pain any longer. It is all over my body. Neither can I face the impending blindness. I pray the Lord my soul to take. Amen.”
